Terms of Service.
These terms govern your use of Cosmic Cleaner on macOS and iOS. They are written to be read once and understood, not to be skimmed and clicked.
The short version. You may use Cosmic Cleaner on devices you own or control. The app deletes files only after you confirm. Back up your data. We provide the app “as is” and are not liable for data loss.
1. Agreement
By downloading, installing, or using Cosmic Cleaner (the “app”), you agree to these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, do not use the app. These terms, together with our Privacy Policy, form the full agreement between you and the Cosmic Cleaner team (“we”, “us”) about the app.
2. Licence to use the app
We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to install and run Cosmic Cleaner on devices you own or are authorised to administer, for your own use. If you obtained the app through the Mac App Store or App Store, the scope of the licence is also subject to Apple’s standard end-user licence terms, which you agreed to when you created your Apple account.
3. What you may not do
- Reverse-engineer, decompile, or disassemble the app, except to the extent such restriction is prohibited by applicable law.
- Redistribute, resell, rent, or sublicense the app or any part of it.
- Remove or alter any copyright notices, trademarks, or attributions in the app.
- Use the app on devices you do not own or have no authorisation to administer.
- Use the app to delete, modify, or access data you do not have the right to modify or access.
4. How the app works — your responsibilities
Cosmic Cleaner scans cache locations and media on your device, presents what it finds, and removes the items you choose. It is a powerful tool, and you are the operator.
- Confirm before you delete. Read the preview. The app will not silently remove files, but it will do what you tell it to do.
- Keep backups. Time Machine, iCloud Backup, or any equivalent — always have a recent, known-good backup before running a cleanup.
- Mind sudo. On macOS, the Memory Core RAM purge requires administrator privileges. Only install the scoped sudoers rule if you understand what it allows.
- Mind Recently Deleted. On iOS, deleted photos and videos sit in the system’s Recently Deleted album for 30 days. After that they are gone.
5. No warranty
The app is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranty of any kind, express or implied, including but not limited to warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the app will be error-free, uninterrupted, or that it will correctly identify every file that is safe to remove on every system configuration.
6. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, in no event shall we be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for any loss of data, loss of profits, loss of goodwill, or business interruption, arising out of or in connection with your use of the app — even if we have been advised of the possibility of such damages. Our total aggregate liability for any claim arising out of or relating to the app is limited to the amount you paid for the app (which, for free installations, is zero).
Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion of certain warranties or the limitation of liability for incidental or consequential damages. In those jurisdictions, our liability is limited to the greatest extent permitted by law.
7. Privacy
Your use of the app is also governed by our Privacy Policy, which explains what the app does and does not process.
8. Third-party platforms
If you obtained the app through the Mac App Store or App Store, Apple is a third-party beneficiary of these terms and is entitled to enforce them against you. Apple is not responsible for the app, its content, or any support obligations. Any app-related claim should be directed to us, not to Apple, except where Apple is required by law to provide a remedy (such as a refund for a defective purchase).
9. Updates
We may release updates that add, change, or remove features, or that address security issues. Updates are delivered through the Mac App Store and App Store and are installed at your discretion (or automatically, if you have enabled automatic updates in the system). We may stop supporting older versions.
10. Termination
You may stop using the app and delete it at any time. Your licence ends automatically if you materially breach these terms. Sections 5 (No warranty), 6 (Limitation of liability), 11 (Governing law), and 12 (Changes) survive termination.
11. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the jurisdiction in which the Cosmic Cleaner team operates, without regard to conflict-of-laws principles. Mandatory consumer-protection laws in your country of residence continue to apply.
12. Changes to these terms
If we update these terms we will change the effective date at the top of the page and, where the change is material, announce it on the homepage. Your continued use of the app after the change means you accept the updated terms. Older versions are preserved in this site’s Git history.
